Design and build

Now, Nokia 5.1 comes with an all glass build on the front part of it. Needless to say, although the version is still unspecified, I can confirm that it is the trusted Corning Gorilla Glass. The rest of its body is made of 6000 series of aluminium metal. Glad to report there is no plastic nothing on this smartphone. A great build it has I have to say, giving it a premium touch and good grip as well.

The body measures 151.1 x 70.7 x 8.2 mm. I would have wished for it to be a little more slimmer though, but really that is a non-matter. Its design is Nokia’s typical, I have to say, it still does look a lot like the Nokia 5. This look seems to be Nokia’s signature. On the back is a vertical camera and LED flash set up with the fingerprint scanner just below it. The rest of the back panel is kept clean and with NOKIA branding present as well. Front part has the top and bottom bezels of course, with the bottom kept clean while the top housing the front facing camera and a speaker, some sensors are also present as you will notice. If you are familiar with Nokia smart phones this design will not seem strange at all.

Display and camera

Display

The display on its 5.5 inches panel is mostly bright. I must say Nokia has done a great job, especially with the pixel count and good resolution on the 5.1’s IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. It comes with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio (~439 ppi density) resolution and corning gorilla glass protection as already mentioned. Worth a should also is it is 78.1 cm2  with ~73.1% screen-to-body ratio. A good display overall. Nothing like Super AMOLED but it does have its own share of the pie.

Camera

We get two cameras here. One primary and the other an 8MP selfie shooter. The primary camera is the more interesting on though. A 16MP shooter with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash. Some of the common features on board include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama.  Shoots some very decent photos this. Video recording stands at 1080p@30fps with is also respectable considering the price you will pick this phone for.
